What are the advantages of commercial shredding versus using an in-house shredder?
The first advantage for most companies is cost. You pay your employees to do the job you hired them to do, not to shred documents. Even if you are paying someone minimum wage, their time spent shredding adds up.  Because we can do it far faster than an in-house machine, you are literally paying Affordable Shred pennies on the dollar.

Second, it protects your company secrets.  The employees of Affordable Shred have no vested interest in the information contained on your documents.  We simply shred the paper.  In contrast, an internal employee may know exactly what’s on your paper, as well as the value of that information to your competitors.

Finally, professional shredding is far more secure.  When you use a reputable commercial shredder, your documents are destroyed and then blended with thousands of other pounds of paper. When you shred in-house, it is very likely that every piece of a document will end up in one bag, making it far easier for someone to piece the information back together again.

What sorts of documents should be shredded?
In short, you should shred anything that has information on it that you do not want others to see – whether that is regulated by the government, company policies, or ethical responsibility to your customers.

Do I have to do anything to prepare documents for your shredding process?
Not really.  Our shredders will handle staples, binders, cd, disks, microfilm, or just about anything else you want to shred.

If you have something that you want destroyed, we will find a way to destroy it for you!!

Do you supply storage containers?
Yes, we do. In fact, if you give us a call before you start a major file clean-out, we’ll be happy to bring over a few extra containers for you to use.

How do I know my materials have been shredded?
You can actually watch the entire process from start to finish if you’d like.

The truck that we bring to your site has cameras attached, allowing you to physically see the paper as it enters the shredder and moves into the storage chamber.

Is professional shredding expensive?
Professional shredding is more affordable than most people think. Many of our customers who operate small to medium offices pay well under $100 a month.  Most are under $50.

Do I have to commit to a long-term contract?
We do not require any of our customers to enter into a contract with us.  Instead, we focus on doing the job exactly right, every time, at a price that you feel is fair.  That consistent focus has won a tremendous amount of customer loyalty and made contracts unnecessary.

If we don’t deliver on everything we promise, then we believe you should be under no obligation to stick with us.

What are my payment and billing options?
For most customers, we provide an invoice after service is performed.  We accept cash, checks, or on-line payment via PayPal.

Where do you take the shredded material?
All material that is shred by our truck is brought back to our plant where we bale it. We then transport the bales directly to the paper mill to be pulped.
